Dolor en la región: Falleció el camionero de Cerri que había sido picado por una yarará en el sur. Miguel Esteban Contreras (44 años) no logró superar el cuadro crítico y falleció en Cipolletti. El trabajador, oriundo de General Daniel Cerri, se había descompensado en la ruta tras sufrir el ataque de la víbora mientras trabajaba en Cutral Co.
Una noticia que enluta a la región y al transporte. Miguel Esteban Contreras, el camionero de 44 años oriundo de la localidad vecina de General Daniel Cerri, falleció en las últimas horas tras permanecer internado en estado crítico luego de ser atacado por una yarará.
El trágico episodio ocurrió en la zona de Cutral Co (Neuquén), donde Contreras se encontraba trabajando. Según la reconstrucción de los hechos, el chofer sufrió una descompensación repentina en la ruta y logró solicitar ayuda en un puesto de la Policía Caminera.
Cuadro irreversible Tras recibir las primeras atenciones, fue trasladado de urgencia al Policlínico Modelo de Cipolletti. Allí permaneció internado en Terapia Intensiva con asistencia médica especializada. Sin embargo, a pesar de los esfuerzos del equipo de profesionales, su cuadro se mantuvo grave y finalmente no pudo superar las complicaciones derivadas del envenenamiento.
La hipótesis médica Si bien desde el entorno familiar señalaron que la confirmación definitiva estaba pendiente, el equipo médico trabajó desde el primer momento sobre la hipótesis de una mordedura de serpiente (yarará), basándose en la sintomatología clínica que presentaba el paciente al ingresar.
La familia de Contreras acompañó al trabajador durante toda la internación en el sur. Tras confirmarse el deceso, se iniciaron los trámites para el traslado de sus restos hacia Bahía Blanca, donde será velado en su localidad de origen, General Daniel Cerri. En Argentina, se registran aproximadamente 700 a 850 accidentes ofídicos por año, de los cuales el promedio histórico de fallecimientos es de 4 muertes anuales
