Atlético Huanguelén obtuvo este domingo el Clausura 2024 al imponerse dos a cero en la final de la liguilla ante Club Sarmiento de Pigüé en partido disputado en el Parque Alberdi del Centro Blanco & Negro. Con esta victoria Atlético -el único representante del distrito suarense- jugará la final anual ante San Martin de Carhué, flamante ganador del primer certamen tras la recordada final en Deportivo Sarmiento ante Dep. Argentino.
A los 23 minutos de la etapa inicial abrió hoy el marcador Emanuel Allen y estableció diferencias definitivas (dos a cero) Elián Fibiger a los 46 de la segunda parte para Atlético Huanguelén, el ganador del grupo B de la última liguilla. Por Club Sarmiento -reciente ganador del grupo A de la Liguilla) fueron expulsados Lucas Cance (30’st.) y Ramiro Sánchez (51’st.). Fue árbitro Nicolás Rodríguez, secundado por Vallejos y Scheffer como asistentes.
Luego de 22 años el “aceitero” albiverde vuelve a jugar una final tras aquellas del 2002, en las que fue campeón tras un ida y vuelta con Blanco & Negro en las que obtuvo un empate en uno en Huanguelén y triunfo por dos a cero en nuestra ciudad. Su técnico, Alexis Cortés, vuelve a jugar una final anual tras exactamente diez años y frente al mismo rival.
Atlético Huanguelén terminó cuarto en el grupo A del Apertura con 17 unidades por detrás de San Martin de Carhué (ganador del torneo) y rival en la final anual, Empleados de Comercio y Peñarol de Pigüé. Por esa posición no pudo acceder a la liguilla. Ello bajo las órdenes del recordado Hernán Vidal, desaparecido fisicamente el pasado 5 de setiembre a cuyo cargo dimitió por sus problemas de salud que desencadenaron en su posterior fallecimiento.
Esa estructura fue heredada por Alexis Cortés, quien tras su paso por el fútbol peruano volvía a insertarse en el fútbol regional y a quien se lo recuerda por aquel título obtenido en 2014 con Boca Juniors y casualmente contra quien será su rival en la anual, San Martin de Carhué. Una ocasión que le trae muy gratos recuerdos y no así para los albirrojos carhuenses.
En el Clausura Atlético nuevamente finalizó en el cuarto lugar en su sector (zona A) con 16 puntos y por detrás de Club Sarmiento (líder con 24), Peñarol de Pigüé (con 20) y Empleados de Comercio (con 17). Se agregaron dos equipos a la Liguilla (10 en el Apertura y 12 en el Clausura) con lo cual ese cuarto lugar le valió para sumarse al certamen final cuyo grupo terminó ganando tras su victoria en Guaminí en la última y con la derrota de Automoto en Santa María.
